Star of Bethlehem

First I apologize for the photos, I had such a hard time with getting the right kind of lighting when I use the color red. Well, I decided that I should make an Advent Calendar since it seems to be quite popular on a few blogs that I have come across. If you recall, there are no traditions that the United States has when is comes to Christmas so, I've only a short story to tell with the stamp I used. The image I am using today is called Star of Bethlehem.
When I first saw this stamp I immediately thought about my sister and I decorating the tree with my parents. Each of us wanted to be the one to place the star at the top of the tree! So to keep us from arguing and fighting about it, we took turns each year to make it fair. =) Not only did we take turns, but we also had a couple of different stars to choose from which made it a little more fun!
Here is the calendar I made which literally took me a whole afternoon and part of last night to make. It really does take time but the outcome was worth the wait! What does this image remind you of? Any special holiday memories? We'd love to know!!
Be sure to check back tomorrow for the winner!! Their name will be posted on the right side bar! Have a great day!

  5. Wow what a beauty, love the idea of the advent being different from the normal chocolate filled ones we have here in the UK and that you can put your own idea of gifts in. Perfect.

  8. WOW Jodi, what an amazing advent calendar! You can sure see the amazing amount of work that has gone into it. It's wonderful!

I love that image too. It reminds me of when I was very young, and my parents and my 2 younger siblings would spend Christmas with our friends, who also had 3 children. For many years the 6 of us used to dress up and put on a Christmas 'play' for the adults. This image makes me remember that time, as the older girl reminds me of Erika (the oldest of us) and the little girl on my sister (the youngest of us). Aw, fond memories!

  12. My grandmother gifted me with my first doll house made out of a box. There was carpet and wall paper and hanging pictures in it. You could not tell it had been a box. I loved it to bits, especially because my Oma made it.

  13. This is just gorgeous! I love your little drawers and the pulls, fab details, and of course that image is perfect. These do take time, but are totally worth the effort! Seeing this image reminds me of my own children decorating our holiday tree and the delight they get out of each little ornament they hang up. :)

The picture reminds me that my Mum still uses the star that I made when I was in Primary School (I think, aged 8) to decorate the top of her tree...and I'm 31 now! lol

  18. Absolutely beautiful! Reminds me of the star we used to put on top of the tree for many years until it broke. No other star could ever replace it.

  19. Your calendar is wonderful, and very beautifully made. I got married and had my first baby all in the same year, our first Christmas was 15 years ago and we bought a star for the top of the tree. We now have three children and still using the same star, it needs a little touch every now and again though.

  23. This is so adorable, Jodi! Yes, it was worth every minute of the hard work you did. I looks so beautiful in the blue, green and gold colors! And I love the story about your sister and you decorating the tree. I never did this since I wanted the tree to be a surprise and so my parents did it late in the night/during christmas day when my brother and I weren´t allowed to enter the living room...

    Big hugs!

  24. This reminds me of the first Christmas I had a new cat. Each night when I got home from work, my tree was laying on the couch because Spooky was trying to climb the tree as cats do. One night, after I had picked the tree up once again, I was trying to figure out a way to keep him from knocking the tree over when I noticed a plant hook above the tree! Wala - problem solved. I tied the tree to the ceiling!!!

    Blessings,
    Christine
