A Four Letter Word!

Vicki - Stamped Smiles
Hello friends!  I'm here today to talk to you about a "four-letter" word called:  L-O-V-E!
I think this image is a great representation of it too!!  This is the sweet image by Elisabeth Bell is called Beary Big Hugs.  Do you remember being young and having your favorite doll/toy that went with you everywhere?  With Valentine's Day coming around the corner, can you think of someone who needs a big hug like this from you?  Be sure to let the ones you love know how you feel about them....because after all, love IS just a "four-letter" word until someone comes along and gives it meaning!  :)

I have used many things that I love on this card including the image itself.  The Copics are something that I love to color with, the hearts, the pink colors, the shimmer papers, yummy ribbon, flowers and pearls...and once upon a time, I collected teddy bears and had loved them throughout childhood.  So I hope you've enjoyed sharing my "love" of crafty things!

I thought that I would also enter this card for a few challenges that I've done:
Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge - couples (i think so!)
A Spoonful of Sugar - Valentines
Everybody Art - My Favorite Thing
Top Tip Tuesday - flowers
Charisma Cardz - Valentines/Love
Crafty Sentiments - Favorite Things
Delightful Challenges - Have a Heart

And speaking of challenges, please BE SURE to read the "new rules" that have been posted on the Belles 'n Whistles Challenge Blog as now you can use ANY Elisabeth Bell image to play!  So be sure to follow along and join with us for future challenges! We'd love to have you play!
Thanks so much for stopping by friends!!  Enjoy your day!  HUGS

Lace and Beads... My Mystery Find...

Greetings everyone!
I couldn't wait to share my news with you all.... Ohhh my Goodness if you only knew what I had given to me!!!

When I arrived at work last Thursday, my boss who just so happens to be a Religious Sister, pulled me into a room, and said.... "I have been going through the closets and found more craft stuff than I know what to do with, would you be interested in coming over and taking a look?"  Well of course....  Apparently this rather large stash of "stuff" had once belonged to another Sister, and no one bothered to clear out her things from her crafting and sewing room after her passing.  It's sat there for a good 5 years, all neatly tucked away in plastic totes.

Well, when Sister Thomas took me to the stash, I had to ask, "ARE YOU SURE YOU DONT WANT THIS?"  Wow, I can only tell you, that I had to take about 3 trips to my car with the amount of stuff she had given me.  Bags, and Bags of Lace, Ribbon, spool after spool of it...  I think it's enough to last 10 years.  If not more!  Boxes of pearls and beads, and all kinds of different things.

After spending my entire evening that night, sorting and organizing it all, I decided that I was going to dig into it and create my card for today's post.

This is ONE LACY Card let me tell you!

I colored this adorable Cooking With Nana image with Copics, and of course added lots of lace from my new "Stash".  Adding some Prima Flowers, and do you see my little beaded pin stuck in behind one of the flowers?  can you guess where those beads came from?  yes yes, my new found treasure.

This Birthday card has a pull out tag, and I can't wait to send this one off to my mom for her birthday.  I think she's going to love it.

Just a reminder that our Belles 'n Whistles Challenge is still going on.  As long as you use ANY Elisabeth Bell designed Stamp, you can enter.  You have 3 more days to enter.  Why not go check it out?  We'd love to see you play along.

Something Yummy for You!

Hi! It's Gini, and today I want to share a card with you that uses Mommy's Little Helper . I colored her with copics to match my designer paper from Cosmo Cricket's Circa 1934 line. The flowers are some Tim Holtz metal flowers that I used Distress Embossing powders to color.

You still have plenty of time to play along with us on our Anything but Winter challenge. We are expecting more snow here tonight, so maybe if you play along, it will keep that winter weather away!

snowflakes anyone?

Happy monday!
Did I hear anyone screaming "me please" when I asked this question?
It´s still winter but I have to admit - I am ready for spring!LOL So I am going to share those snowflakes we are getting again with all of you...

I tried to include as many as possible on my card. The card is made in a snowflake shape, I have snowflakes on the designers paper, there is another snowflake shape cut from transparency and put on top of the card, there are cut out snowflakes as embellishments - and to top it off there´s Catch A Flake
one of the cute Snowbabies to make this card perfect.

For a frosty touch I added some Distress Paint and also some silver embossing powder to the edges. And I did some sanding to the transparent snowflake.

Before I am leaving for today I want to remind you all of our
ANYTHING BUT WINTER
challenge over at our challenge blog - for all of you that are as sick as me from winter and frost and snow. You have one more week to enter that challenge.
And we have made exciting changes: you are now allowed to use any
ELISABETH BELL IMAGES,
no matter what brand they are
!
But only hers please - we got some entries using stamps from other brands and those do not qualify for the prize drawing, the Top picks and they will not get any comments from us...

Have a wonderful week!
Hugs,

Love is in the Air......

Hello everyone and Happy TGIF! What better card to show then a 'Love' card for the weekend?  :-D With Valentines not even a month away I'm in the middle of creating all my Valentine cards. And for me Cupcake  from last years Valentine's collection, is still the perfect image for a Valentine's card. I just adore this super cute image!

I colored Belle using pencils and OMS. The base card I created with my Cricut and Design Software. The DP is from My Minds Eye 'beloved' collection (I think it is called). The large flower is from Petaloo and the swirly leaves is a Marianne Design die.

One more closer look at Belle and her chocolate cupcake :-) :

You'll find more photos on my blog later today!

A winter card

Hello Friends!
Today I want to show you a winter card. In Norway it is still snow and cold outside. I am waiting for spring. I have made this wintercard for a Norwegian stamp magazine called " Ett trykk". It was published in the magazine in December.

I have used my favourite stamp from the Snowbaby collection. The image is coloured with distress ink, reinkers. All the edges are inked with distress ink, walnut stain, and then sewed.
Behind the image I have used a french doily lace. My card is decorated with snowflakes, flowers, charms and pearls. I have used 3 different pattern papers.
Have a nice day. I hope you will join the BnW challenge this week.

The Denim Look with a Tutorial!!

Hello friends!!  It's my turn to post for you today and I thought it would be fun to show you a little tutorial!
This is called faux denim or what I call faux jeans background paper!! :)
I love how simple this is with just a few inks and sponges for a fantastic background!
(please click on photos if you need a larger view of anything!)
To get started, here are a few things you will need to create this tutorial:
1) You will need to start with a medium color of blue paper preferably cut to size before you start.
2) medium blue ink - I've just used same color of ink as card stock for mine.
3) dark blue or navy ink
4)  white ink
5)  a couple of different sponges...make-up sponges work well for this too!

Step 1:  You will use your inked up sponge with the medium-toned blue ink and swipe it over the blue cardstock in long swipes all the way across the length of the card stock piece.  Leave plenty of open spaces and be sure to let your ink dry.

Step 2:  Now you will swipe the dark blue/navy ink with the sponge in the same manner that you did in step 1 going in the SAME direction as the previously applied ink.  Allow to dry completely.

Step 3:  Now you will take the white ink with your sponge and going in the same direction again, lightly swipe in long strokes over the other layers of ink you just applied.  Let dry completely.

Step 4:  Now you will turn your card stock at 90 degrees and use the dark blue/navy ink once again and swipe your sponge in that direction.  (You can see the difference when you turn the cardstock!)

Step 5:  In this final step, you will need to adjust colors of ink to your desired look with more medium blue inks or white inks, etc to get the "jean look" that you like.  This is what my final piece looks like.  (click photo for a larger view of it.)  As you can see, it has the nice "jean look" without using background papers!

And here's what my card looks like with it being used:
I thought that this darling Belle with Laundry was just the perfect image to use for this!
When you add some stitching and buttons, it helps to show off the fun denim background!
I don't know about making your laundry chores fun...but it helps to complete a quick card with NO background papers while you're waiting on your clothes to dry!! :)

I hope you've enjoyed my tutorial and if you try this out, I'd love to see what you did with it!
P.S.  If you haven't checked it out yet, there was a brand new challenge posted on the Belles 'n Whistles challenge blog...so go check it out and join in the fun with us!!
Thanks for dropping by today!!  Now...off to finish MY laundry! LOL!

BnW Challenge - Anything BUT Winter

Hej!

As you might have read yesterday - I think I've done my last Winter card - well I might add - maybe:-)

Today it's time for a new BnW Challenge - hosted by me and since we have had an incredible amount of snow here in Sweden - I'm kind of tired of Winter. That's why the challenge is to create something without any Winter related to it ;-)
Here's my card for the challenge - using Kitty Love.
Coloured her with my copics. DP from SU and then I added pearls and some flowers of course ;-)
Please join us for the challenge - and if you want more inspiration before you start - pop over and check out what the rest of the BnW ladies have been up to.

Snow pearls

Happy Sunday everyone!

Just a very short post from me - showing one of my very last (hm.....me hoping) Winter cards... This post was supposed to go up earlier - but I've been in bed - knocked by a virus........so I did not have the energy to write my blog post.... I'm know keeping my fingers crossed that I'm done with viruses for some months at least......

Coloured Merry Sledging with my copics and made a little "mini card". DPs from my local craft shop as well as the pearls.

Looking fwd to see you here tomorrow again - because then it's time for a new BnW Challenge.

A christmas card

Hello friends!
The christmas is over but I have started making christmas cards again. Maybe I am crazy, but this is actually fun. Every year before christmas it is the same. I begin too late making my christmas cards. The result is that I get stressed and spend hours at my crafting room instead of being together with my family.

This year I have decided to make at least 3 christmas cards each month, then hopefully I have finished my christmas cards before December. I have already finished 3.
For this card I have used one of the beautiful snowbaby stamps. The image is coloured with distress ink, reinkers. All the edges are inked with distress ink, walnut stain, and then sewed. I have decorated my card with laces, a french lace doily, flowers and snowflakes.
I hope you have a wonderful day. Thank you for visiting the BnW blog.

A Birthday Surprise....

Greetings everyone.  It's hard to believe that the week is almost over.  You all still have time to enter the Belles 'n Whistles "Let it Snow" challenge over on Our Challenge Blog. We'd love to liven things up, and see what you create.

Today I've decided to show you something that is NOT snow related.  Living in NY State is just YUCK in the winter months.  The first couple of times it snow, it's always nice, but then it just keeps coming....  not even enough to be pretty anymore, but just enough to make the road horrible to drive on, and ohhhhh don't get me going about the snow.  ha ha...

I have a card to share with you today using "Surprise"  This is from last years "Love Collection" and he's still available in the BnW shop.  Don't you just love these images designed by Elisabeth Bell?

If anyone pays close attention, they'll see that this is colored the exact same way as the one that is in the title bar at our challenge blog, and do you know why?  Because it IS the exact same one.  ha ha....  I had colored him to use on the BnW Challenge blog title and then put him in my box to use at a later date....  Today is the day!

He's such a handsome little guy, isn't he?  I wish there were a few more "boyish" stamps because boys need cards too.  This one could be used for a boy OR a girl, depending on how you look at this image.  He could be waiting patiently to give this gift to someone, OR maybe the gift is his.  But if it is, it's PINK.... ha ha....
Thanks so much for stopping by, and seeing me put a gorgeous little boy to good use.  I'm so glad I saved him, so I could use him now.

One more reminder.... Don't forget about our Belles 'n Whistles "Let It Snow" Challenge.  *hint - hint*

Can I get a little Love?

Hi! It's Gini here - stuck in the house with a foot of snow outside. So I decided I needed a break from all things wintery and cold (and you might need a little break too!) So I have a cute Valentine's card to share with you. I used the Sweet Love stamp (there are only two in the store, so if you are wanting this to make a card for your loved ones, you better hurry over and grab it!). Are you getting a lot of snow where you live? I'm dreaming of spring already!

midway reminder

Happy monday to all of you!

As you know we have a new challenge every fortnight on mondays at our very own Belles´n´Whistles Challenge Blog.

You still have a week to enter and so I thought I´d share my challenge card with you here on the inspirational blog and use as a midway reminder...

The theme is "let it snow". I know some of you might be sick of snow at the moment but some might feel like I do. Now that it started to get warmer here in Germany and the snow is melting away I am already missing it and all the fun we had playing in it.
Our girls started skiing last winter and took another class after christmas. So
Skiing Snowbaby

was the perfect image for me to use for the snow challenge.

So, hop on over to our challenge blog and share your favourite snow memories with us!

Sweet dreams

Happy Friday everyone!

Hope you are going to have a wonderful weekend. We have tickets for Disney-on-ice on Sunday - can't wait to see it and see Isac's reaction as well. He just loves all the Disney characters and who doesn't???

Anyway - here's a little short post from me - showing one of the cuties from the Forever Young Collection - Sweet Dreams. Isn't she adorable? It was a challenge for me to not colour her in red ;-) - so I picked out some of my new SU DPs (Thank you Elizabeth) and coloured her in matching soft colours. I'm actually very pleased with the result. Only added a few pearls - since I wanted the image to be in focus as well as the DP.

Hope you like it!
Kramis and looking fwd to hear from you,
Anki

Skiing Snowbaby......

Good Morning!!!
Today I wanted to showcase another of the
adorable Snowbaby images.  I am sorry if you
are sick of them or snow but I didn't get a chance to
use them with my move and now that is all I want to
play with! LOL
I made another card to go with our challenge theme
of snowflakes.  (Don't forget to play along!)

Anyways here is skiing snowbaby:

I just adore this Basic Grey paper and think I may have
used up my last piece! The colors are classic snow colors
to me and such a lovely combo.
Here is a close up:

I had that rub-on from Melissa Frances sitting around
and just had to use it for this image ~ perfect fit.

Well that is it for me today.
I really hope to see all your challenge cards
in the gallery for this week!
Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope
you all have a lovely day!
