In the Spotlight

Congratulations to Victoria - you are in the BnW Spotlight today!

I love the softness of this card. The DPs that she has used - brings back memories
from my grandfather's house when they used to have those "romantic wallpapers".

I hope that you all upload your cards in the BnW gallery - so that we can enjoy them and from now and then show them in the BnW Spotlight!

Happy Thursday everyone!

Time for some cleaning

That little coocoo living in this beautiful german watch was a bit upset because his home was full of dust. So, Belle came to the rescue and decided to clean it to make that little bird happy again. Wow, can you see all the dust that is whirling up? I had to sneeze several times while I put this card together because of the dust in the air. ;o) Of course it´s only dust I created by making tiny dots with my Copic markers.

So, to keep this post short I tell you that I am going to do some cleaning myself now - Belle didn´t want to clean my house too after finishing hers - and then I am going outside to enjoy the sunny and warm weather. But before leaving I want to wish all of you a wonderful and happy wednesday!

Day at the beach..

I've colored Bronzing Beauty weeks before and finally made a card for this post. She was colored with Copics. I've colored her a bit darker than usual to show some sunburn :) She was cut out and mounted on 3d foam. Did some faux stitching and paper piercing.

I took inspiration from Debbie Olson's card. I just love love love her work. I hope she doesn't mind. Thank you Miss Debbie! :)

For the sand and water background, I airbrushed (water) with BG01 and (sand) E30 & E31. For the sea foam, I used liquid applique and some glitters. Flip flops are from my stash (local bookstore find). Starfish, sand dollar and Crab are MS punches. The starfish is the  die cut inside the sand dollar.. I hope I made sense.

Thanks for stopping by and for any comments you may leave!
Have a wonderful day!

Stamp: Belles N Whistles Bronzing Beauty
Ink: Memento Black, Distress inks for sponging on sand dollar and starfish.
Paper: Cosmo Cricket Snorkel, Neon green and orange mats are from a 12x12 stack (no idea what brand)
Coloring Medium: Copics
Accessories: MS Punches Sand Dollar and Crab, Flip flops, Liquid Applique, glitter

Free Style Friday

Greetings all!!!
Where has this month gone?
I feel like I've been absent,
or shall I say Absent Minded! ha ha
I decided that I would do a little Free Style crafting
for my post today.
So that is why I called today's post
"Freestyle Friday"

I feel like my mind has been in such a fog, with things being
so busy at work, and me coming home completely
exhausted lately. I really had NO IDEA what type
of project or card that I wanted to create for my post today.
So I simply grabbed one of the stamps from
the newest release and stamped her....
not having any idea what I was going to do.
I then picked one single paper, and colored Belle to match.
having no idea what I wanted to do with her.
So there I sat... with the colored image laying on a
fresh piece of DP, and looking at her asking myself
"On What, will she look best?"
  ha ha

Suddenly it hit me like a ton of bricks,
and my mind went racing....

Once upon a time, I sold Mary Kay Cosmetics.
Yes it's true.
I still have some inventory that I use for different gifts etc.
One of them being this awesome Mary Kay Sun Care Collection.
I believe that if we all want to have the
same gorgeous skin that Belle has,
we better take care of our skin in the hot summer sun, right?

So I created a gift tag to go along with this sun care set.
It's a BIG tag, but I really wanted this Bronzing Beauty to
be the center of attention!  Sure it's nice to have the gift set,
but Mary Kay would roll over in her grave if she knew that
I cared MORE about Sweet Belle, than I did about the sun care set.
(Oh noooooo I did not just say that, did I?) ha ha

Okay enough of my chatter,
I think it's time to just show you what I made.

Of course I took a picture a little closer of just the tag,
after all, this is the most important part of the gift, right?

With Mothers Day fast approaching,
and the fact that my own mother is moving to Arizona
in a couple of weeks, I have decided that I will give this to her.
I think she's going to need it more than I would. =)

I colored Belle with Copics, and made sure to make her
a little blond girl, since my mother had
4 little blond girls at one time.  We aren't so little anymore.
Okay, so I added a torn piece of glittered
brown paper from DCWV for the "Sand" effect.
The sentiment is from Stampin' Up, and the flowers from Prima.
Every mom deserves some pearls, so I added some of those too!
I think she's going to LOVE it!

So you see,
the possibilities with these awesome summer stamps are

I hope you have enjoyed my random... Freestyle Craft that I've
made especially for today!

I'm ever so thankful it's Friday, I will finally get a little bit of rest
on the weekend, and have some more time for crafting!

Wishing you all a Fabulous weekend too!

We would love to see your creations with our sketch and there is also a nice prize up for grabs as always! So come on and play with us! :-)

Belle is colored using Copics and the DP is from Basic Grey's Euphoria Collection.

Christmas meets Mother´s Day

"Star Of Bethlehem" - that´s the beautiful stamp I used for this card. Christmas stamp in april? Star? And what´s me talking about mother´s day?

You´re right - I was looking for a stamp I could use for a mother´s day card and thought "Star Of Bethlehem" would be perfect. I just did some little changes by removing the ink from the star and the border around belle´s hips before stamping. And at the place where the star was I´ve put some rosebuds, the stamps are hand drawn.

So, Belle and her little sister woke up early that morning and are now on their way - still dressed in pyjamas - to wake up their mom with some nice roses and even more big hugs and kisses.

I also hid a little flap on the card - and under it I put "world´s best mom".

I so remember when I was a kid: me and my younger brother stood up early on mother´s day (which is celebrated the 2nd sunday in may here in Germany). We prepared breakfast, put some little handmade gifts on my mom´s plate and also left the house to go to a big meadow gay with flowers to pick her a nice bunch of wild flowers. And every year it was full of "lady´s smock". Do you know those light pink, tender flowers? They are still my absolute favourite flowers and I am so happy that we have a bunch of them growing in our garden. Well, hubby isn´t since he isn´t allowed to mow the grass until they are gone!LOL
Now I am a mom on my own and can hear my girls working around in the house to surprise me while I have to stay in bed until they are finished...

Happy B'day!

It's my youngest sister Cathrine's b'day today - so I have to say Happy B'day of course!
She turns 27, but will always be the baby in our family ;-)
This time I wanted to challenge myself and colour little Belle in new colours that I don't use that often. So it was perfect that I had the latest DPs from Basic Grey Kioshi to start with.

Coloured little Belle - Tea time with my copics. Cut out the image with my nesties. Added a scalloped octagon DP behind her. Created small pearls with my Viva Decor pen and Hydrangeas with miniroses in the center. The ribbon is a Kioshi ribbon doilies. Oh - I almost forgot - I added a little cute butterfly in the corner ;-)

Hope you like it! So my question to you this time is - what colour combo is outside your safety zone?

Spotlight Thursday

Hello friends and welcome to another Spotlight Day here on the Belles 'n Whistles Blog. Today Judi from Judi's Craft Corner is our Spotlight. Judi is one of our lucky winners from the last Belles 'n Whistles Blog Hop. Yesterday I received an email from her telling me that she made a card using her prize 'Splashing Good Times'. And curious as I was I went right away to her blog and what I saw blew me away. What a wonderful bright and summery card Judi made! But see for yourselves...

Don't you agree with me? I love the pink and the green and the coloring is fabulous! Thanks Judi for sharing that wonderful card with us!

Do you want to be in the Belles 'n Whistles Spotlight? Just let us know about your cards or projects you've created using one of our stamps. You can also upload your creations to our GALLERY so we can all see them!

Ready for Summer?

I love the fact that it's getting warmer outside and that we have more and more sunshine. But am I ready for Summer? Hm.......not yet - but I'm trying to. It's hard to show off your white legs at first - but how will you get some suntan if you don't dare...???
Wish I would look as good as little Belle below :-)

Isn't she supercute? I have loved this image from start - when I first spotted her in Elisabeth's sketch gallery. So great that Summer turned her into a stamp - don't you all agree??
You can get little Tube Wear here.

I've coloured her with my copics. DPs from Basic Grey. Pearls are made with my Viva Decor Pens. Flowers and leaf are from RoP.

Hope you like it and please let me know your trick to get your legs tan fast! ;-)

Tough Tuesday

I finally got to use this cute stamp called "Goggles"! Wanted to do so since I got it but there wasn´t the right idea in my mind yet. And now I finally got it.LOL

He´s such a cutie! I love his sturdy legs and the way he´s standing there - but most of all that doubting expression on his face. And that´s why I added this sentiment to the card. Is there anyone not remembering that feeling you had whenever it came to any firsts? That feeling of being torn apart between wanting to try something that looks fun and being afraid of it probably not being so much fun as it looked like? I have been a quite antsy child and so if this stamp showed a girl it could have been me. ;o) But maybe I am wrong and he´s just looking for the right place to lay down his towel?

Well, however - I can proove that just a little later he had so much fun: Splashing Good Times shows it! Maybe he was just waiting for Belle to help him a little... That´s what big sisters are for!

Tea Time

Happy Monday everyone!! I'm a bit late in posting this for all of you this morning, it's been a very hectic weekend. I'd like to share with you a card I made using one of the latest stamps called Tea Time. I decided to use various shades of blues and purples.
The type of card I made with her is called a Joy Fold card. This is a cute and fun way to create a card because you get to lift up the flaps to get to the center.
My apologies for the photos, the lighting was really hard to work with since I took these photos off of my iphone. But I really LOVE my iphone!! Anyway... if you haven't gotten your set of the latest Belles n' Whistles stamps, head on over to the store now!! The card was made using paper and bling from Basic Grey which I purchased from Roses on Paper.
Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you have a great day!!

Fancyful Friday

Hello Dear Belles 'n Whistles Friends and Happy TGIF :-)! I hope you all had a fabulous week and are looking forward to a nice and relaxing weekend! Well I know mine wont be that relaxing because we are still replacing our windows but planning on doing the last one on Saturday, YAY! However, after that everything is nice and new and thats why I'm still looking forward to it. In the course of all this I also rearranged our dining room and in our bay there we have now a nice separate sitting area. Can't wait sitting there and enjoying my coffee or tea. Like Belle is enjoying her cup of tea here on my card. Isn't she just adorable sitting there on the stump and savor cookies, tea and fresh air? This adorable new clear stamp from our Spring Cleaning and Summertime Collection called 'Tea Time' is now available HERE!

I made this card for a friends birthday, she also likes to sit outside and enjoying a cup of coffee. Do you have a favorite place where you like to sit and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee?

Belle is colored with Copics and I added stickles for some highlights. The flowers are from Magnolia and I addeed Stickles to them as well for some more glitz. Magnolia flowers and Stickles can be found at Roses on Paper where I bought mine.

Thanks for visiting us here today on the Belles 'n Whistles Blog and have a wonderful and creative weekend!

Love and Hugs,

Tutorial Thursday - Stamping with the New Clear Stamps

With it being a Thursday, I thought I'd share a tutorial for those of you who are a bit leary of the new clear stamps. This is my way of stamping and hopefully it will put a different spin on the clear stamps for you.

1 Belles N' Whistles stamp (the most important thing and I just love Wishes!)
Ink of your choice (I chose Memento Tuxedo Black)
Paper of your choice
Acrylic block to fit your stamp
1 9 x 12 sheet of craft foam (Yes, it's like the kind you can get at Joann's for like 10 for $1.00 when they're on sale!)

First I place my paper on top of the sheet of foam. This gives your stamp a great cushion in helping the ink cover the paper.

Then I peel off the protective covering from my acrylic block. I always cover my blocks with Tac N' Peel and love it!

Next I ink up my stamp. I like to pat my block on top of the ink pad but do it however works for you.

Then I place my block on the paper wherever I want to stamp. And then press down! Don't rock too much and try and place even pressure over the entire stamp.

Then just lift the stamp up and you've got a great, clear, crisp and clean image! I have been stamping like this for like a year and a half and I always get a great impression but these clear stamps are great to stamp with.

Some of you were worried about how detailed Elisabeth Bell's images would turn out and I picked Wishes from our new Spring and Summer Release because of the great detail and small lines used and it came out perfectly! I've stamps up all of the new clear Belles N' Whistles stamps and didn't get a bad image out of any of them.

So go get some cheap foam sheets, a great acrylic block and stamp away! I hope this clears up some of your misgivings about the quality of the image you'll get by using these clear stamps. I've got to tell you that not only was I not disappointed with them, but I loved how much space I saved with them! Quick, easy, clean stamping, Belles N' Whistles stamps! Enjoy!

A Fun little Decoration!

Happy Wednesday everyone!  I hope you are all enjoying these first few weeks of Spring.  I know that I am!  Of course it helps when I am on vacation from work for a week.  It gave me some more time in my craft room.  Knowing it was my turn to post today I just knew that I wanted to create something just a little bit different than a card.
My inspiration was definitely these two beautiful Belle images from the new Spring / Summer line.  It helped me as well to see my husband applying fresh paint to our walls.  I decided that I wanted something new to hang on my wall, so I put that idea together with these gorgeous little girls, and I came up with my Spring wreath idea.

A close up view of this little beauty sipping her afternoon tea!  This one is called "Tea Time"

I'd like to think she's eating Oatmeal Raisin Cookies.  Those are my favorite!

The fun thing about this wreath is that it's got options!  Everyone loves to have options, don't they?  One day you may love seeing Belle sitting on a stump sipping her tea and eating her cookies, and on another day you may want to see........

Ahhhh - ha...  You see, the center image will turn if you want it to.  I've used Belle "Watering" - Oh she's gorgeous isn't she?

Here's a close up of her.

Oh my I love the options of this wreath. I can't decide which side of the image to have facing outward. They're both just as sweet as can be.

Okay so for a tiny tutorial - sorry no pics this time.

I started out with a cardboard circle. A little smaller than a dinner plate, but bigger than a sandwich plate. Obviously I cut the center out, so now I had a cardboard frame for my wreath.

I used my cricut to cut several leaves out of 2 different shades of green. I scored them, and distress inked them, and..... That is what you are seeing there.

Next I attached a string running from the top to the bottom of the cardboard circle.  Now I'm ready to glue my leaves in place.

Once I had some 70 - 80 leaves all scored, and distressed, I started at the top, and worked my way down, only gluing the stem areas, leaving room for other leaves to slide underneath, giving it the layered look.  Once I was happy with the fullness of the wreath with the leaves, I set out to find some flowers.

Some flowers are punched flowers, and the main one on the top was actually a silk flower.  I put a black onyx colored pearl in the centers, to give the flowers a "Black eyed Susan" look.  (Even though those flowers usually have brown in the middles) ha ha

Now, butterflies, yes there are always butterflies in the spring and summer, we need butterflies!!!  I ended up using butterflies from Magnolia, and one from Stampin' Up, simply because I realized that we don't have any butterflies....  ohhhhh Elisabeth - hint hint!!  LOL

I stuck 2 of the butterflies on a small wire that I coiled in order to make them pop out, so they look like they are fluttering in the air.  (as well as adding a little bit more dimension to the wreath.)

Next I took my 2 colored images, both cut with the same size Nestability scalloped circle, and lined it up the way I wanted it, but facing downward with the string running up through the middle.

Here is the reason I faced it downward... You can take any shape punch, I used a 1 inch circle punch, and punched out of regular white scrap cardstock.  I punched out 8 circles.  These will be hidden, no one sees them.

I glued 4 circled down on the back of the first image, making sure to leave the string in the middle, and not gluing over it.
Then I glued the other 4 circled on top of the first 4 circles.  (so you should have double stacked circles now)
This gave the string JUST enough clearance so that when you glue your 2nd image on top, you don't get any creases or showing of string coming through your image.  Everything lays perfectly smooth.  You do not want to use pop dots for something like this, because they are too thick.

After you have glued your circles, you see your string is running up through the center.... You will want to run just a thin line of glue along the string.  This will ensure that the image won't slip on the string.

Next, put the glue on all 4 of those double stacked punched circles, (Not on the image itself) and then line up your 2nd image to fit.  Apply pressure only to those punched circle areas, NOT the edges of your image.  Everything will then lay perfectly smooth.

I'm sure you guys can figure all of that out anyway, but hey, it doesn't hurt to tell it anyway, right?  LOL

At the bottom of the wreath I attached a wired ribbon bow that I made, and then began embellishing my wreath.  You can embellish any way you wish to.  I used Dew Drops which I bought from the Roses On Paper shop.  I also had a couple of little lady bug clothes pins, very tiny ones for crafting.  I popped a couple of the lady bugs off of them, and added them to the wreath.  After all, what is Spring without a few ladybugs crawling around?

Okay, so there you have it....  A little Spring Wreath fun, for you to try.

RoP/BnW Challenge

Hej everyone!

Have you had too many eggs yet? *lol* Well - I think I have - but I've been enjoying the Easter break with my family and relatives. It's been great - but tomorrow it's back to normal again - meaning work, work, work..... sigh....So this is the last day for me to create and have some fun with the family ;-)
Talking about fun - Jodi is hosting our RoP/BnW challenge this time. She wants us to create a b'day card and/or using several layers.

I could not resist to create this mini b'day card using one of the latest BnW stamps "Watering". Inked her up with Memento Rich Cocoa - loving the softness brown gives to the stamped image. Coloured her with my copics and added a few layers of cardstock behind her. Wanted her to be in the center and then surrounded with some miniroses and pearls. The pearls are made by me using the Viva Decor pearl pen. Sentiment is a rub-on - again from my supersweet friend Tammi.
Hope you like it and that you would like to participate.
